I thirst for you

John 19:28

"I thirst"

ReNew Sculptures

Art from used, old spiritual literature

The artwork “I Thirst for You” is inspired by the profound words often reflected upon by St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, expressing Christ’s deep and personal longing for each soul. His “thirst” is not simple love - it is a spiritual yearning for our trust, and closeness. Through this theme, the artwork seeks to capture the depth of Jesus’s desire to enter our lives.

Rooted in the words of Scripture—“Behold, I stand at the door and knock” (Revelation 3:20)—the piece invites reflection on God’s gentle persistence. Christ does not force His way into our hearts; He waits, longing for our response. His love is patient and unrelenting, even when we turn away or are weighed down by weakness and sin. As He hangs upon the Cross, His body bruised and His head bowed, Jesus’s cry of thirst becomes a plea of love—for each one of us personally. Every wound, every drop of blood, every breath He gives is an offering born of desire for our salvation and communion with Him.
