This artwork is inspired by the touch of our Lord, a symbolic gesture expressing a deep need for divine help, comfort, and strength.
This artwork is inspired by the woman with uncontrollable bleeding (Matthew 9:18–26): who had been bleeding for 12 years, with no earthly remedy, she was left as an untouchable, despised. Yet amidst the physical, emotional turmoil she clung to the hope of Jesus, hearing the many miracles He performed, she was sure that He was the key to her deep unending sorrow. Just a touch of his cloak would make her new, provide all she needs and desires, just a touch.
And so she waits, in the crowds, yearning for healing, making her way to Jesus through the crowds. Finally she touches the fringe of His cloak with immense faith, and by Jesus's power of healing she is completely healed.
